On December 29, 2014, over 20 brave birders descended on the Greater York Springs area with one common goal, count as may birds as possible. Many teams were out early calling for owls along the back roads of the region, armed with their smart phones and flash lights. Other more sane individuals chose to wait until day light instead. The birders left no bush unphished and no duck uncounted. In their madness, one person wrecked their car and came limping back to the count up with a fender bashed in. At the end of the count, everyone meet up at Rocco's Pizza in York Springs for dinner and fellowship. The air was filled with stories of birding and birds as well as much talk of CBCs to come. As with any CBC, there were the unexpected birds. One team saw a Peregrine Falcon and another saw a Hermit Thrush. Over all, more than 60 species were seen and the tradition of the CBC was continued.
